Abstract

Amoebic infection is an endemic problem plaguing the tropical and subtropical countries and happens to be a major cause of chronic morbidity in the regions. We report a case of amoebic liver abscess in a 30-year-old male which had ruptured into the left lung parenchyma and pleural space. This was followed by thoracotomy and evacuation of pus with repair of the diaphragmatic defect and parenchymal defect.

Rupture of amoebic liver abscess into left lung is very rare and the clinician should suspect this presentation.
